Antifouling Removal - How does it work?

Our system does not rely on any other product, whether it be antifoul paint, epoxy or copper coating, in order for it to fulfil its purpose, which is to keep the hull clear from algae growth and barnacles.   We suggest to people that they may choose to antifoul their boat every three or four years because our system will not keep the hull from staining and it will not enhance the boat's appearance.

It is true that conventional antifouling paint will to some extent provide additional protection, but all the customer generally wants is to have a hull that is clear from growth and performs efficiently throughout the season and without the need to spend weeks every year, rubbing it down and repainting out of necessity and losing performance through growth early on in the season.

In reality, most boats are already antifouled, we do not ask people to remove it as it is really not necessary.  From an aesthetic point of view they would probably choose to refresh it when it starts to look shabby anyway.

Our system, unlike traditional antifouling paint, will also help to keep the props and shafts clear from growth, although not quite so effectively as the hull, because they are acoustically isolated, but with correct positioning of the transducer/s this will make a big difference to their performance.

Bottom Paints - Antifouling removal of the past

Environmentally responsible people will be concerned with the antifouling bottom paint used on their vessels. Antifouling paints are toxic and designed to prevent the growth of marine organisms. The impact of marine growth on boat hulls varies dramatically with the local climate. Most boat owners clean and paint their hulls as a part of their winter boat maintenance routine, we recommend that you can reduce this to every three to four years.

The runoff, overspray and residue associated with bottom painting builds up in the environment. Technology has begun to provide improvements to poisonous antifouling paint but now an even better option has become available in the form of an Electronic Antifouling Device....  Ultrasonic Antifouling Ltd, can supply an environmentally friendly solution to this age old problem.  Many of the new products on the market attempt to prevent marine organisms from being able to attach themselves to the hull. Still the most common biocide in use for bottom paint is copper. The Ultra 10 antifouling system (for boats up to 10 metres) and the Ultra 20 antifouling system (for boats up to 20 metres) will prevent the marine organisms, barnacles and crustaceans from attaching to your hull, by transmitting a series of very low power, ultra high frequency sound waves which resonate through the hull of your boat and will actually deter the algae, barnacles and other organisms from attaching.

The Ultrasonic Antifouling device (sometimes referred to as sonic antifouling) is completely pollutant free, unlike many of the bottom paints that are currently used for antifouling removal, and much more environmentally friendly. There are many things boaters can do to limit and help prevent damage to the environment caused by antifouling paint, but the very simplest and most cost effective thing that they could do is to invest in the future of antifouling and enjoy the benefits of ultrasonic-antifouling. The costs relative to your existing routine of antifouling, are easily paid back generally within the first year because with the cost of having your boat lifted, pressure washed and stripped prior to applying your new coat of antifouling paint not inexpensive and subject to inflation and price increases as time goes on, making the Ultrasonic antifouling system, the most cost effective antifouling solution for you.
