After years of research and development, Ultrasonic Antifouling Ltd, a Poole based company with a long association in the marine industry, was set up in 2007 to offer a new and revolutionary way to protect boats from fouling. The ‘UltraSystem’<\/em> is an antifouling system that uses high frequency, low power sound waves to destroy algae and bio-films and\u00a0therefore prevent weed and barnacle growth.<\/p>\n

Unlike traditional antifouling paint, ‘The UltraSystem<\/em>‘ is a low cost, highly effective and completely pollutant-free method of keeping a hull clear of fouling. What’s more, it reduces the amount of annual preparation and painting of the hull.<\/p>\n

A clear hull is important to owners. It allows optimum speeds for faster passage times and reduces fuel costs by minimising drag.\u00a0 A recent report by the British Navy states “that it can take up to 30% more fuel to push a dirty hull through the water”.<\/p>\n

Product advancements include the January 2011 launch of our UltraSystem Series II. <\/em>\u00a0A designed engineered system with advanced transducer technology providing just over 15% more output efficiency. The much improved system makes installation quicker and easier. Series II is the most efficient ultrasonic system in its product class on the market for pleasure yachts <\/span>as shown by long term independent testing.<\/span><\/p>\n

Three years of extensive research, development and testing saw the UltraSystem<\/em> PowerPlus in September 2015.\u00a0 Specifically designed for larger yachts and superyachts, the UltraSystem <\/em>PowerPlus<\/a> takes Ultrasonic Antifouling to a whole new level, with an advanced digital program, single control unit providing twice* the output signal to each transducer simultaneously.\u00a0 The system offers three and four transducer configurations.<\/p>\n

With the increased interest and use of ultrasonic antifouling technology within the commercial vessel sector, 2020 saw the launch of the UltraSystem\u00a0<\/em>SonicPRO high-power output system to provide a cost effective solution for hull protection and complex sea chest and seawater cooling pipework arrangements, box coolers and thruster tunnels.<\/p>\n
